The Djeliyah Band, led by the multi-talented Djely Aboubacar “Boka” Kouyaté from Guinea, started in Seattle in February 2015. Named after the Djely people, who have been cultural educators, historians, artists, and musicians in the Mande Empire, the band blends traditional Griot music with afrobeat and modern Guinea music for a unique, highlife sound. They have performed at venues such as the Nectar Lounge, Rumba Notes Lounge, Festival Sundiata, Columbia City Theatre, The Triple Door, and during the movie showcase for “ROOTS.”

Pa Bobo Jobarteh believes music is the fruit of the soul, spreading messages of peace and unity through his widely known and beloved compositions. Pa Bobo, an extraordinary Gambian Kora virtuoso, has taken his musical talent across the globe. With his magical touch on the Kora, he mesmerizes audiences worldwide, sharing the beautiful melodies and rhythms of this traditional West African instrument. Through his music and teachings, Pa Bobo has become a cherished ambassador of The Gambia.
